12082009-2Transports in an SAP system provide a repeatable way to move code changes from your DEV to QA to Production systems. Portal transports are independent of the CTS mechanism within the ABAP-based systems. This document will demonstrate the import and export portal transport process.

Please note, with the release of EP 7 SP14, there is an adhoc integration between the portal transport and ABAP CTS ( referred to as CTS+ ). This is only an integration and it does not mean that the transport mechanisms are completely integrated

Content Export

Log into the portal and click on System Administration and open the Transport Packages folder in the Detailed Navigation

12082009-1

Click on Export and select a folder to store the transport package. Right-Click on the folder and select New-> Transport Package

12082009-2

Enter a descriptive name and then a unique ID for the transport package. It is always a good idea to add a Prefix to all portal content. The prefix will enable you to determine what is out of the box SAP and what has been changed for the customer.

12082009-3

Open the transport for editing

12082009-4

Locate the portal content that needs to be transported and add that content to the transport package by right-clicking on the content.

Once you have added all of the content wanting to be transported, click on the EXPORT button at the top of the transport screen.

12082009-6

All connected portal content will be added to the transport package. For example, if you export a role, all worksets, their pages, and the pages iviews will be displayed. You have the ability on this screen to remove specific content.

Once the export content is ready, click the START EXPORT button at the bottom.

12082009-7

The export will run and you can now download the export package to your local machine. The package should be stored in a central location after it has been downloaded. To download the content, click on Download Export File

To import the content into the destination portal, log into the portal and click on System Administration. Click on IMPORT under Transport Packages

12082009-9

Click on the CLIENT radio-button and then BROWSE to select the transport package that was downloaded from the export portal

12082009-10

The import process is a 2-step process. You first need to upload the package into the portal.

12082009-11

After clicking the Upload button, the package will be uploaded into the portal. Please note at this stage the content has not be imported into the portal

12082009-12

After the import is done, click on the IMPORT button. After clicking the button, the content will be moved into the portal’s portal content directly. Any content with identical IDs will be over-written.
